Opera in Paphos


Every September, the Paphos Aphrodite Festival presents a famous opera which takes place in front of the Medieval Castle of Paphos.
This year , on the 4th, 5th and 6th of September , Opera lovers will have the chance to watch 'Lakme" an opera of the french composer Leo Delibes performed by the National opera of Sofia .

Lakme, in three acts , is considered as one of the most exotic operas.

The story is set in the late nineteenth century British Raj in India.
The story makes use of an exotic location, Hindu religious rituals, tension and conflict between the natives and the British settlers, and conflicts surrounding the two main lovers, who have obligations and loyalties that war with their passion for one another. e most exotic operas .
